Filter Press for Filtration of Suspension from Semi-Precious Stone Processing

Customer: Company specializing in the processing of semi-precious stones
Location: Czech Republic
Goal: To ensure efficient separation of solid particles from the suspension generated during the processing of semi-precious stones and to minimize the volume of wastewater produced.

Customer Requirements

A Czech company specializing in the processing of semi-precious stones was seeking an efficient solution for handling the suspension generated during the cutting, grinding and polishing of stones. Due to the presence of fine mineral particles, it was necessary to ensure reliable filtration while simultaneously reducing the amount of waste destined for disposal.

The required solution was an automated system capable of processing sludge production equivalent to approximately 300 kg of dry solids per day while maintaining simple operation and low operator requirements.

Supplied Solution

ENVITES designed, manufactured, and supplied a dewatering system consisting of an automatic chamber filter press K630/20, a homogenization tank HNB6, and a 6 m³ filtrate storage tank.

The homogenization tank is used to equalize the concentration and flow rate of the incoming suspension prior to the dewatering process. The suspension is then pumped to the filter press, where solid particles are separated from water by pressure filtration.

The automatic operation of the filter press enables sludge dewatering with minimal operator intervention. The process produces a dewatered filter cake for further handling and a clear filtrate that can be reused or discharged depending on operating conditions.

Technical Parameters

Filter press: K630/20 automatic

Homogenization tank: HNB6

Filtrate storage tank: 6 m³

Processed medium: Suspension generated during semi-precious stone processing

Dry solids production: 300 kg/day

Technology type: Pressure filtration using a filter press

Dewatered sludge handling: Container located beneath the filter press

Operation mode: Automatic

Project Execution

The scope of supply included the design, manufacture, and delivery of the filter press, homogenization tank, and associated process equipment. The technology was designed specifically for the characteristics of the processed suspension containing fine mineral particles generated during the machining and finishing of natural stones.

The K630/20 filter press represents a compact solution suitable for small and medium-sized industrial operations where reliable sludge dewatering and high separation efficiency are required.

Project Outcome

The supplied technology ensured effective separation of solid particles and significantly reduced the volume of waste requiring disposal. At the same time, it enabled stable and automated operation of the dewatering line with minimal operator involvement.

This project is another example of the successful application of ENVITES filter presses in the treatment of industrial suspensions with a high content of mineral solids, where reliability, ease of operation, and long service life are key requirements.
